Days before going on holiday, I prepare by setting aside the items that need to be packed into my suitcase – clothes, toiletries, power adapters, itineraries. Packing isn’t the only prep I do. I try to beautify before my trip – manicure, pedicure, hair cut, threading of my eyebrows, at-home facial, and on and on. This time, I did something different. I got a facial done by a professional at the newly opened Heydey in the Flatiron District of NYC.

Heyday is conveniently located a block away from my office on Broadway between 25th & 26th Streets. I walked by it before they opened and was very curious about their services, and products. I’m always up for trying something new, and getting pampered in an urban space with chill music (not the typical music you hear at a day spa) was worth trying. Heyday offers quick 30 minute and 50 minute facials. I tried the 50 minute facial, which gave me enough time to get out of my office and back in time for my client meetings.

After filling out my patient profile, I was escorted to a treatment room (a small, curtained stall equipped with phone chargers). Cute. I liked it. I didn’t feel like I was locked in a tight room worried about getting claustrophobic. As soon as I laid on the facial bed, I instantly felt relaxed with the aromatherapy, music, and ambiance.

Michelle took great care of my skin by following the usual facial ritual – cleanse, exfoliation, hydration, extractions, a mask, and a massage. It took me a few minutes to get out of the chair. But as I walked to the relaxation area, I saw my face and she achieved what I asked her to – make my skin look hydrated and dewy. Unlike other day spas I’ve gone to, my face did not feel like it was caked on with layers of product.

Speaking of product, Michelle recommended a few products and didn’t pressure me into purchasing them. Extra points there. I did purchase a bottle of sunscreen that smells like the ocean, and a bottle of Image Clear Cell Salicylic Clarifying Tonic, which is used to clean impurities and excess oil.

About 24 hours later, my skin still feels amazing. I’m looking into their membership packages now. Looks like I’ll be signing up for the The Alternating Monthly plan with a 30 Minute One Month and a 50 Minute The Next.
