Hotel Review – Q&C Hotel, New Orleans
Q&C Hotel/Bar, formerly called Queen & Crescent, is located about two blocks from the French Quarter in Nola’s Central Business District. Q&C was completely renovated in 2014. They are now part of the Autograph Collection by Marriott.
Before booking my week-long stay at Q&C, I checked a bunch of reviews. Generally guests have very positive reviews. Minimal complaints about noise, but some have noted the small room sizes. The hotel is pet-friendly, which can be a pro or con.
The checkin experience – easy. I arrived around 2pm and my room was ready. I had a room in the Crescent building (located across the street from the main hotel). Upon entering the building, there was an ultra-cool lobby with leather seats, a Shuffleboard table, and even a silent-auction room.
The room and bathroom were clean. Only downside was the bathroom lighting, which was dim. But that didn’t bother me. The bed was comfortable.
The floorplan is different for each room on each floor because it is set in a historic building. My colleague stayed in Room 423 and his room had a bigger bathroom with two sinks. Mine was a brighter room, with a single sink.
Noise level – my morning alarm clock set off between 6.30 and 7 because of construction happening daily. I don’t think there could be a way to avoid that. There wasn’t much noise from the other rooms though you could hear the neighbors’ door slams clearly. Not so much for conversations.
Being up early (which I intended to do) allowed me to hit the gym every morning. During my stay, the hotel was renovating their gym but guests had access to the Intercontinental Hotel’s gym, which was a little dated.
The Bar
Having a bar and restaurant at Q&C was a big plus. We dined here several times and the food and drinks were delicious. Happy Hour happens daily from 4pm to 7pm, with drink specials and small plates priced between $3 to $5. Try the Boudin Balls, a traditional Cajun and Creole appetizer made with pork and rice which is breaded and fried, then topped with remoulade.
For dinner, try their Seared Tuna, Louisiana Shrimp, or their signature Burger with boursin, onion jam, and arugula on a brioche bun.
Would we stay at Q&C again? Yes.
