Hotel Review: Harborview Nantucket
We lean towards off-peak travel to find travel deals, and to avoid crowds. And with Jay’s birthday in the off-shoulder season, we decided to celebrate it with a long weekend stay at the private cottages of Harborview Nantucket.
Located just steps from the harbor and town, it’s the perfect location for foodies and festival-goers. The Harborview Nantucket hotel accommodations range in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms and will readily extend the comforts of your own home. Each comes with a full kitchen, which can be stocked ahead for your convenience, high-end appliances, private decks or balconies, washer/dryers, fireplaces, and polished, elegant interiors and furnishings.
Off the 11 cottages, we stayed at the Ebb & Flow, a 819 square foot one bedroom plus loft (totaling 2 queen beds). The unit has one bath, an open kitchen, large farm style dining table, a spacious living area and high ceilings. When we entered the cottage, we instantly fell in love with it.
After our long journey from Connecticut, it was a nice surprise to check into our cottage and find two bottles of wine and an assortment of beer from the Cisco Brewers in the refrigerator.
The cottage was well kept and comfortable. Our three-year old daughter enjoyed her loft space, which was set up with a queen bed, tv and chaise. She cried the day we left because she loved it so much and didn’t want to part with it.
While we were at the property, we took a peek at the Mainsail. At 1,697 square feet, this handsome, freestanding hotel accommodation is one of Harborview Nantucket’s largest luxury cottage rentals. Mainsail includes a private first and second floor deck providing spectacular views of Nantucket harbor. With the cottages grand presence and two-story layout, Mainsail lives like a private home, but with all the in-house specialties of hotel hospitality. Mainsail comes complete with a king master bedroom and two queen guest bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms, a large kitchen, fireplace, living room and dining room. The cottage also offers private parking, in-home W/D and complimentary Wi-Fi; the perfect residence for large groups or families.
What To Do On Property
You can enjoy the view from your deck overlooking an oasis, the Harborview lawn and the bay, on the Adirondack chairs. The hotel has a small private beach and provides kayaks, paddleboards and beach chairs in summer.
Other Activities
When we visited Nantucket, we explored the town which was only a few blocks away, dined at many excellent restaurants, and explored the island using both the Nantucket Shuttle and a car rental. We’ll share our experience in later posts.
Stop and Shop is only a couple blocks away, so if you need to stock your fridge, you can head there or ask concierge to handle the grocery shopping for you.
How To Get There
You can get to the beautiful island of Nantucket by plane or ferry. If traveling by ferry, you can bring your car (note: reserve this far in advance). Harborview Nantucket offers complimentary transportation from the ferry terminals and a full-service concierge to help make your Nantucket vacation a perfect experience.
