We visit Newport every year, and our favorite activity is boarding a ship and soaking in the sun while enjoying the views of Newport and Jamestown.

In the summer of 2022, we got into sailing so we decided to search for charters while visiting Newport, RI. Thankfully we found America’s Cup Sailing Charters. It’s not the typical booze cruise on a schooner with a 30 other people. It’s an intimate sail on an America’s cup winning sailboat! Although it’s a race boat, the cruise is well mannered on the water. There were no worries with our 9 and 5 year olds. They had a great time with the boat heeling from one side to the other, looking up at the sails fill from tacks/jibes, and checking out the huge yachts as we sailed on by.

The cruise is 2 hours around Narraganset bay. They sail from mid May to mid October.

If you want a hands on experience on a race boat, they even have a 3 hour hands on racing experience. This will definitely be in our future when the kids are a bit older. But for now, we’ll enjoy the cruise around the bay.
