The 2015 installment of the Union Square Holiday Market, presented by Urbanspace and the Union Square Partnership, will return on Thursday, November 19th! Bigger, brighter and more exciting than ever before, the New York institution has added new performance stages, a warming station, new booths, signage and lighting displays, along with an an interactive children’s craft station sponsored by the Children’s Museum of the Arts. Upgrades galore!

Urbanspace has partnered with Children’s Museum of the Arts to create an exciting new art- making station for kids. For a suggested donation, children and grown-ups alike can take part in craft projects, like designing wrapping paper, constructing ornaments and decorating cookies. Ornaments created at the booth will be displayed prominently around the market archways, fountains and other common spaces. Crafting will take place between 3pm – 7pm throughout the week and 11am – 7pm on weekends.

The market will also feature two new performance stages — one near 14th Street and Union Square West, in the heart of the holiday market — and the other near 17th Street, adjacent to the Union Square Greenmarket and Pavilion. The Market Stage will feature funky independent acts, including popular subway buskers, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and the Pavilion Stage will feature family and kid-friendly activities on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, such as Grace Church School’s choir and Mott Haven Academy’s children’s choir. Urbanspace will also host a public Carol Sing on Thursday, December 17th at 6pm; guests are invited to bring their own candle or light, and Urbanspace will provide the music and holiday cheer.

The vendor selection will also be larger and more original than ever in 2015. Many consumers arrive with their sights set on supporting local artisans – this year, Urbanspace has expanded the “Little Brooklyn” section to include new vendors like Kiln Design Studio, Two Arms Inc. and Boneyard Pets, who will sell their goods alongside returning favorites like Brooklyn Charm, Brooklyn Brew Shop and Momofuku Milk Bar.

There will also be an entirely new, curated aisle called Urbanspace Provisions which will feature locally produced packaged pantry goods, funky kitchenware and spice of life supplies like stationery, books and home decor items. Some of the most notable vendors in this new section include Bedford Cheese Shop, The Truffleist, Strand Bookstore, Izzy & Tallulah Fresh Cut Fudge, Verrier Handcrafted, Farm To People, S.W. Basics and more.

As influential and constant supporters of small, local food businesses, Urbanspace has also recruited a great lineup of culinary offerings from pop-up markets like Mad. Sq. Eats, and their new permanent food hall, Urbanspace Vanderbilt, to help fuel the search for handmade merchandise and original art. Hungry shoppers can indulge in fresh fare courtesy of Doughnuttery, Bar Suzette, Delaney Barbecue, Taste of Persia, Wafels & Dinges, Two Tablespoons and other local powerhouse food and drink purveyors.

The Union Square Holiday Market will be open from Thursday, November 19th until Thursday December 24th; market hours are 11am – 8pm Monday through Friday, 10am – 8pm Saturdays, and 11am – 7pm Sunday. The market is closed on Thanksgiving Day.
