Hotel Review – Le Parker Meridien, NYC

We live in Connecticut and visiting NYC for the weekend is a nice staycation destination. Jay and I are NYC natives and we haven’t done much of the touristy stuff in the years we’ve lived in New York, so spending the weekend with our daughter to do just that is quite fun.

Located in Midtown Manhattan, Le Parker Meridien is one of our favorite hotels. There are many attractions close to the hotel. For instance, Central Park is just two blocks away, Rockefeller Center is six blocks away, and Times Square is a few short blocks walk.

The Grounds

There are two main entrances – one that goes through the main lobby for the front desk and concierge, and another that cuts through the pavilion which sometimes showcases local art.

In the atrium lobby, behind the velvet curtains is The Burger Joint, my favorite place for burgers in NYC. Even celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain rates this place highly as seen in an episode of The Layover. Avoid peak hours as the lines do get long, wrapping around the velvet ropes.

The top floor pool has floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of Central Park and an outdoor sundeck for tanning.

The Rooms

The contemporary-styled rooms are clean and comfortable. Ask for a room with a view of Central Park. The bathrooms are spacious and have good lighting.

Downside: The minibar refrigerator is stocked so you cannot store food, or when traveling with a baby – food or milk. Ask Guest Services to wheel in a refrigerator for an additional fee.
