Hotel Review: AKA University City in Philadelphia
Our first trip of the year was in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. The main reason for the visit was to check out Longwood Gardens since it was opening weekend for their Orchid Extravaganza display.
Our basecamp was AKA University City. I chose this property because being a family of four – I needed enough space for us to breathe. AKA is a luxury extended stay hotel with comfortable accommodations ranging from studios to penthouse suites.
We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Suite with a Library. The 818 square foot suite had a master bedroom ensuite, open floor plan full kitchen and living room, a library/den, which had a pullout couch perfect for our 6 year old, separate full bathroom, washer/dryer room, and large foyer closet. For about $400 per night, this is a bargain!
One of my favorite amenities was the property’s 28th floor, Level28, which is dedicated to their residents’ well-being and enjoyment with an expansive glass-enclosed Olympic-sized heated pool, state-of-the-art Technogym fitness center and yoga area, 3D golf simulator, outdoor terrace with fire pits, sophisticated a.lounge, business center facilities, and a private screening room.
The gym has two Peloton bikes available for guests to use. One morning I got a quick ride in while looking out into the Philadelphia skyline and horizon. Afterwards, I refueled with AKA’s complimentary coffee and snacks.
Another great amenity is their very own TESLA house car, available exclusively for AKA University City residents. Just call up the front desk and they’ll take you where you need to go within 2 mile radius.
Have you ever stayed at an AKA property? How was it?
